![]() To the last point, I have found that the rubber washers last longer, and leak less, in the female connectors because you put them on once and leave them there all the time, versus screwing and unscrewing them all the time. It is much easier and more convenient with the quick disconnect, than to keep unscrewing the hose connectors on and off. The nice thing about these quick disconnects is that you leave the female connector attached to the spigot, and then connect/disconnect all the items you have attached the male connectors to. I also use a soft misting sprayer when I am doing any kind of concrete work, or concrete repairs, and to keep the items wet so the concrete sticks to them. I also use the long hose for connecting to the slip'n slide thing we have for our kids to use during the hot weather. I use a long (125 foot) hose on a wheeled cart that I connect/disconnect for washing the cars, pressure washing the house/deck/patio/shed, and to connect/disconnect the opposite end to our sprinkler for the garden. I use a short (6 foot long) hose that I connect/disconnect for cleaning dirty garden/yard tools off, or for filling buckets of water for other small washing jobs. I have several items I interchange all the time, and for me, keeping the female quick-connector attached to the spigot is priceless. It all really depends on if you are just attaching a hose to the spigot and that is all, or if you intend to use multiple items throughout the year that requires you to attach/remove things often. The solid brass quick-disconnects are a few dollars more, but they are worth it. I have had those now for over 10 years and they still work great, even when left on the spigot and hose all year long. I went thru this for a few years and finally bought solid brass quick-disconnects from Lee Valley online. ![]() ![]() These are NOT made of brass, and will corrode over time if your water has a lot of minerals in it. This leaves the male threaded end of the hose to be attached to the female internal threads of whatever device your using the water for.Īlso, be aware that the quick-disconnect that is shown by the OP is made of aluminum, with a brass colored coating on it. Plus, all garden hoses normally install with the female internal threaded part onto the spigot. ![]() Unless the OP has a female internal tread on the spigot, the male piece of the quick-disconnect will not fit on the spigot.Įvery one of these types of quick-disconnect hose sets will normally have the female connector on the spigot and the male connector on the hose due to the spigot having male external threads on it. ![]()
